How do I add more natural voices?

SpeakIt uses the voices installed on your iPhone. To add higher-quality Enhanced and Premium voices for free:

  1. Open the iOS Settings app.
  2. Go to Accessibility → Spoken Content → Voices.
  3. Pick a language, choose a voice marked Enhanced or Premium, and tap to download (Wi-Fi recommended).
  4. Return to SpeakIt — the new voice appears in the voice list automatically.

How do I set up Personal Voice?

Personal Voice is an iOS feature that creates a synthesized voice that sounds like you. Create it in Settings → Accessibility → Personal Voice on a supported iPhone, then select it inside SpeakIt's voice picker. Personal Voice is generated and stored on your device by iOS.

Why does a voice or feature need the internet?

Reading text aloud works fully offline. A connection is only needed for optional features you choose to use, such as loading an article from a web link, or dictation in certain languages where Apple performs speech recognition on its servers.

Can I export audio?

Yes — SpeakIt can export spoken text to an audio file you can save and share.

How do I back up my saved phrases?

In Settings → Backup, export your folders and saved phrases to a file (for example to Files or iCloud Drive). You can import that file later to restore your library on the same or another device.

What devices are supported?

SpeakIt is an iPhone app and requires iOS 17 or later. On-device AI text generation requires a device that supports Apple Intelligence.
